I grew up in Minneapolis and was known as the kid who was always asking "Why?" I'm a deeply curious person and a deep thinker. My curiousity has led me to a lot of exploration: of ideas, of places, of spirituality.
Starting when I was 15 I spent numerous summers exploring Latin America (in Mexico, Bolivia, Nicargua, and Honduras) working on community development projects. After high school, I spent a gap year in Argentina and then studied at the University of Chicago.
In my studies I focused on International Development and was planning a career working for NGOs or other international organizations. I spent a year in Paris to try to hone another UN language and discovered that despite being fluent in Spanish (I started learning when I was 5), I was in fact horrible at learning languages. I still remember the rather disgusted face of my French teacher when she would hear me butchering the language!
After school, I got a job in International Development in DC and tried my hand at it but decided it wasn't for me. And so I traveled to the other end of the country and have now made Seattle home.
In Seattle, I spent about 10 years in tech making my rounds at Amazon, Microsoft and then GoDaddy and am now on a sabbatical trying my hand at writing and seeing where it takes me.
I am a practicing Quaker Catholic and I love writing and thinking about the mysteries of life and the gray spaces in our world. Thank you for your interest in my work!
